As part of an educational restructure in the local area in 2022, we have welcomed over 350 new students and over 35 staff into our community and there is now a secondary school of nearly 800 learners across Years 7–11.

We are seeking a passionate, energetic and ambitious individual to become the Clerk to the Board of Governors here at Wadham School. Wadham is a close-knit community secondary school of 760 students with an amazing team of staff that support each other in helping our students become the successful and confident global citizens they deserve to be. As the last local authority maintained secondary school in Somerset, this is your chance to come and be part of something unique.
The board, through its appointed and elected governors, plays a distinctive and essential role in the continuing success and development of the school.
The role of the clerk is to work with the Chair, other governors and headteacher in dealing with administrative matters for the board and advising on procedural issues of governance and the board’s statutory duties. Central to the role is preparing for, taking notes on and producing minutes for meetings.
The post involves evening work and the successful candidate should also be available at times during the day. Integrity and maintaining confidentiality along with good keyboard skills and the ability to write agendas and produce accurate, concise minutes are essential.
New clerks receive advice, support and training from the SSE Education Governance Team and all clerks are encouraged to attend half-termly briefings to update themselves on the latest developments in governance.
The post will initially involve approximately 10 hours' work for each meeting and, typically, there will be 1–2 meetings each month. The clerk will be asked to take on additional work according to need. This will include arranging meetings in respect of pupil suspension/exclusion considerations, staff dismissal and appeals, staff grievances and appeals. In addition, complaints panels require clerking

School Minibus Driver (From September 2026) - UPDATED
SCHOOL MINIBUS DRIVER
Salary Scale: Grade 16 pt. 2 Actual salary £10,424
18 ¾ hours per week / Term time only plus 1 INSET day
HOURS TO BE WORKED OVER TWO SHIFTS 7.15AM – 9.00AM + 2.45PM – 4.45PM
As this is a new post, the hours may be subject to some slight alteration through negotiation.

This role would suit candidates looking to work a split shift with hours at the start and end of the day, where every day is different, and you can make a difference to the students and staff, as well as the wider school community.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:
- To drive a school minibus to transport students safely to and from school
- To take responsibility for the safety, comfort and welfare of the students
- To take responsibility for all regular safety checks and condition of the school minibus
You are likely to be someone who:
- Has a full clean driving licence, category D1 or category PCV
- Has a willingness to undertake regular minibus training
- Has 2 years of driving experience and is confident in driving a minibus or similar, e.g. a large van
