The Key Stage 5 Curriculum (Sixth Form)
(A separate handbook is issued to students in Year 11 which covers this in details - see link on right for current version)
A LEVEL Students will normally take 4 subjects in Year 12. During the course of the year they will decide which subject they will not continue with into Y13 and will be able to take the AS qualification in that subject. Some students will start with 3 subjects and will be expected to continue with all three for the two years
A prior pass at GCSE grade is generally required for entrance to a particular subject. Students are expected to have 5 GCSEs at A* to C (9-4) which should include English Language and Mathematics. Individuals who have missed out on getting English or Mathematics at GCSE will be considered on an individual basis and required to re-take the subject during Y12 and/or Y13.
Vocational/Applied courses are also available in Business Studies, Sports Studies and Health and Social care. Full details of all the courses on offer can be found in the Sixth Form Prospectus. Please also visit the Sixth Form page of this website.
